Book Tasting

AHS Teacher, Brooke McVeigh, had a Book Tasting last week in her Pre-AP Freshman English Class. The books she had for the students were, Bleachers, The Grapes of Wrath, The Life of Pi, I am the Cheese, and The Kite Runner. Miss McVeigh said she chose diverse books, based on what she knows about her student's interest. Here is what took place, "The students were given 10 minutes with each book. The students were given a "menu checklist" where they had to write notes about the book, and whether or not they were interested in it. Very much similar to a dinner taste testing. At the end of class the students were given a ballot and they voted on the book they wanted to read after fall break. Bleachers by John Grisham was the winner." - McVeigh
