The History of Will Rogers
In
the fall of 1999, all Head Start & Pre-K classrooms were moved to
Will Rogers Elementary. Since there were so many students, the 2
portable classrooms were also utilized. Mrs. Chronister, from the
Mentha Mitchell Varner Head Start Center was named the principal. In
November of that year, the Early Childhood Center burned and was
destroyed. Portable classrooms were added to the east side of Will
Rogers to house the kindergarten classrooms.
At
that time, is was decided to add onto Will Rogers and turn it into an
early childhood center housing all of Ardmore’s Pre-K, Head Start,
Kindergarten & T-1 classrooms. Construction began soon after the
fire and in February of 2001, Will Rogers had 12 additional classrooms.
With increased enrollment, an additional 4 classrooms were added on the
northeast end of the building.
Our school has
grown and changed to include 13 Pre-Kindergarten, 13 Kindergarten, and
4 Resource Classrooms. We have 36 certified staff and over 70 total
staff members.

Will Roger's Song
I’m a cowboy from Will Rogers and I love to go to school
I listen to my teachers and obey all the rules
When they ask me where I come from I say, “ARDMORE CITY SCHOOLS”
Then I get back on my horsey and I say, “YEE HAW”
