Oklahoma Scholars Program

What is the Oklahoma Scholars Program?

Program is an effort by area businesses and school volunteers to encourage students to complete challenging courses during high school that will prepare them for jobs or higher education after graduation. The Scholars Course of Study gives students the foundation they need to succeed in technical school, community college, university, the military, or industry. With a Scholars background a person is a more attractive job candidate and more likely to complete training or education that leads to better jobs and better pay.

Oklahoma Scholars is endorsed by employers, Ardmore City Schools, the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Oklahoma Business and Education Coalition and meets the graduation requirements of the Oklahoma State Board of Education.

Greater Ardmore Scholarship Foundation

The mission of the Greater Ardmore Scholarship Foundation is to provide financial incentives to all Carter County public high school graduates from average income families to pursue their higher education goals at Oklahoma colleges, universities, and vocational-technical schools of their choice.  They believe that higher education promotes individual and social growth and enables young people to develop skills of future value to community.

Students admitted to the GASF Scholarship Program will receive $500 per semester for the first two years of college.  When the student reaches junior and senior status, the scholarship increases to $1,000 per semester.  This is to encourage completion of the degree.  The total award for four years can potentially be $6,000.  Scholarships are paid in the fall and spring enrollment periods only.  Eligible applicants are high school graduates of Carter County.
