Ardmore City Schools actively recruits highly qualified
instructional staff year round. We attend Oklahoma and Texas college
recruitment fairs each year seeking certified staff members. Through
the efforts of the Cornerstone Foundation, we are able to offer signing
bonuses for our hard to fill areas. This has significantly increased
our ability to attract outstanding educators.
We
have 251 certified staff members, five of whom have doctorate degrees
and eighty-eight with masters’ degrees. Among this group of educators,
eight are National Board Certified.
A
comprehensive new teacher induction is provided for our new teachers at
the beginning of each school year. All first year teachers are provided
a mentor and university assistance. New teachers to the district are
paired with a buddy teacher in their grade level or subject area.
We
provide continual learning for our staff members through various
avenues. A reimbursement of $50.00 per college hour is given to all
staff members working toward their masters degrees. We have also
partnered with the University of Oklahoma, providing a masters program
in School and Community Renewal for interested staff members. We also
reimburse each of our staff members to take certification tests in core
subject areas.
We our proud of the
continuing staff development that is offered to each of our staff
members. It parallels the Oklahoma PASS Objectives ensuring excellence
with all of our students.
