Each day at Jefferson Elementary, we welcome 240 students in grades
one through five. Our entire staff of dedicated and loyal persons sees
that Jefferson students are learning and growing in many different
ways. A healthy lunch and breakfast is served daily and we emphasize
healthy foods and snacks along with a physical education program that
contributes to a child’s healthy body.
Parents,
students and teachers make up an important triangle for a student’s
success. At Jefferson, we work to always keep this triangle in motion.
In addition to the core subjects, students learn from other areas such
as music, physical education, library science, tutoring, computer
programs to advance their classroom skills, and after school enrichment
groups. Communities in Schools place Ameri Corps students in our school
that tutor and assist classroom teachers during the school day.
We
welcome parental involvement. Come and visit your child’s classroom;
volunteer to help out at school; ask questions and certainly take the
opportunity to be at parent/teacher conferences. Children’s success in
school depends upon many things, but parent interest and involvement is
a vital part of each child’s success.
Teachers
spend important collaboration time working with curriculum, studying
best practices for an effective school and reviewing assessments to
further advance the students. Teachers attend conferences and meetings
to become more skilled in helping students learn and grow.
Another
important part of a student’s school day is to feel that they are in a
safe and orderly environment. Every effort is made to make this
possible at Jefferson. Our building doors remain locked from 8:30 a.m.
to 3:30 p.m. We always want families and patrons to feel welcome, but
we also make sure the children are safe.
As the words on our Jefferson School sign says “The Place to Learn”. The bottom line is that we are all about the students.
