Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

The administration, faculty, and support staff of Charles Evans have a vision statement that promotes the learning atmosphere of our school, “Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day”. We believe that every student can learn, and we see each interaction with students as an opportunity for learning every day. Together with our partner parents and guardians, we view every Charles Evans student as one with potential for great academic success. A child grows and learns best when they are in a safe, caring, warm environment with the guidance of knowledgeable, nurturing adults. The Charles Evans school staff provides this atmosphere for your child in grades one through five.
    Charles Evans teachers along with the principals work together to develop a school curriculum that meets the needs of all students using Oklahoma P.A.S.S. objectives in Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and the Arts which give a basic framework to our school’s curriculum. Charles Evans strives to surpass the P.A.S.S. requirements using state of the art technology such as Smart Boards in every classroom along with three computer labs equipped with curriculum software. These are just a few of the ways the Charles Evans faculty provides varied instructional approaches to facilitate learning beyond paper and pencil activities. Additionally, we received a grant for reading instruction and have just completed our third year in the Literacy First Phase IV grant process. Through Literacy First, teachers received extensive professional development and training to facilitate literacy instruction for our students. Student skills are individually assessed then literacy centers are used along with explicit instruction from the teacher to help students overcome gaps and weaknesses in their learning. Along with Literacy First, students have the opportunity to be involved in our Accelerated Reader program. Students are excited about reading at Charles Evans!
    Charles Evans is more than reading throughout the curriculum, students are excited about learning through our FOSS Science Curriculum as well as Mathematics, Music, the Arts, Library Skills, Physical Education, Social Studies, and other educational opportunities provided for your child throughout the school year.
