The
new site of Ardmore Middle School opened for classes on August 14,
1997. The structure contained 90,562 square feet of space. A 5.5
million dollar bond issue to build the new school passed on October 11,
1994, with 75% approval. The fall of 2005 six more classrooms were
completed giving the school a total of 97,555 square feet.
Thirty-six
classrooms of various sizes are in the building, each with a telephone
and computer. In addition to these academic classrooms, the school also
features a nurse’s office, a science laboratory linked to all science
classrooms, and a family economics room with three kitchen stations,
washer and dryer, and sewing machines. The large band vocal music areas
each feature practice rooms, office, and storage space.
The Library-Media Center
utilizes a computer automated card catalog system, seats fifty five
students, and provides a state-of-the-art media retrieval system which
allows a teacher to setup and then control video presentations from
his/her room via the telephone.
Computers are
an integral element of the Ardmore Middle School instructional program.
The school has four complete labs. Keyboarding and Computer
Applications are offered to students in all three grade levels. Our
fourth lab features the Success Maker software along with Science
Curriculum.
The Gymnasium
features a maple floor with two cross courts, one competition court,
and electronically retractable bleachers. The building features
wrestling and weight-lifting areas with offices for both male and
female coaches.
The Cafeteria
is designed for multiple line service and contains a state-of-the-art
kitchen. Its large seating capacity makes it appropriate for meetings
and community use.
The Administrative area
features a reception area, two conference rooms, offices for the
principal, two assistant principals, counselors, nurse, secretaries,
and attendance clerk.
