Hope everyone had a great spring break!  We will be in a sprint to the end of school.  Lots of exciting things going on in the land of the Tigers!  Our Tennis teams are doing awesome!  Our baseball team, both high school and middle school are solid.  Track is underway with lots of kids participating.  Golf is doing well as usual and our middle school girls have really improved and having fun!  We are going to keep pushing hard in all sports and in offseason.  We are making good strides and continuing to develop the concept of PRIDE, POISE, DISCIPLINE, AND CLASS.  If you have any questions, please feel free to come by, email at dwendel@ardmore.k12.ok.us, or call 580 - 221 - 3053.

We had a lot to celebrate this weekend.  We had our first STATE CHAMPIONSHIP of the year.  Evan Mcgee won the 5A Heavyweight State Championship at the Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City Saturday night.  This was his second state championship.  We are so proud of Evan.  Also, we are so thankful for Coach Dabbs efforts in the wrestling program.   Aron Yelton also qualified for state this year.

Also, the boys basketball team beat El Reno in the Regional Championship on Saturday night.  Therefore, we will advance to the Area round being 1 win away from the state tournament.  We will play at Norman High School @ 6:30 vs. Dell City.  Good luck to our basketball team.  They will do well.

Baseball starts in full gear with scheduled games this week.  Varsity will be at Madill on Friday and middle school will be at home.  Golf and Tennis both start this week as well.  Track will be next week.

It is great to be back at work after a restful  break!  We received alot of good news concerning our athletes over the break.  Trevan Lawson, Josiah Reed, and Tyler Day were named 5A All Stars by the Oklahoma Coaches Association.  Also, Tyler Dixon and Tyler Day were named Co - Defensive Players of the Year in the Ardmoreite Newspaper.  We are very excited that these student athletes hard work paid off with these accolades.  Congratulations to them.

The Holiday Fest Basketball tournament was a success.  We are in the full swing of basketball and wrestling season.  We are hosting a wrestling match against Ada tonight!  Come support the Tigers!!

We are in the process of gearing up for Track, Baseball, Tennis, and Golf as well as starting to make plans for the 2012 / 2013 school year.  It is a busy time of year, but lots of activities and opportunities to see our student athletes compete.  Please consider attending some of the events.

    Middle school football wrapped up last week.  We have started wrestling, basketball and offseason.  We are pleased with what we were able to accomplish in football, but also pleased that we were able to emphasize the classroom and keep most of the athletes eligible.  The cross country middle school runners finished up last week too.  We took over 20 to run at middle school state meet.  We saw lots of improvement and excitement about the direction of our cross country program.

At High School, all winter sports are in full swing.  Cross Country has one student athlete, Celia Cara that qualified for the state meet!  She will run on Saturday in Edmond.

We had a great homecoming last week!  The student body had awesome activities all week and we capped the week off with a great victory over Durant!  We had a large crowd and are very appreciative of your support.  Our team is getting better each week.  We play at Capitol Hill (Speagle Stadium) on Thursday night this week.  We are working toward our goal of reaching the playoffs and the possibly hosting a playoff game.  More work to do!  We are going one day at a time.

Softball concluded their season last week in Regionals.  We appreciate the efforts of the girls that were on the field last week.

Middle school football has been busy.  They played 3 games in 8 days.  8th grade won all three!  We play tonight at 5:30 in Lone Grove.  We have added a game on October 27th to give us our maximum of 8 games.  We are pleased with the progress that has been made here.  Keep up the good work and finish the year our strong!

Cross Country is getting ready for Regionals and State!  Keep working hard and have a great showing.

Athletics is picking up speed.  High School wrestling and basketball will start after school practices next week.  Softball had their last home game and senior night on Tuesday.  We won both games.  Regionals will take place next week.  Cross Country is gearing up for the last month of the season.  Football is now in week 5 and second game in district.  Time flies when your having fun.  Athletes have been working hard both in the classroom and on the fields.  We have seen improvement in numbers and improvement in fundamentals in all sports.

Middle School football played Plainview last night.  The 8th grade had a convincing win and the 7th lost in overtime.  We will play again next Tuesday at Duncan.  So pleased with the improvements we are seeing there.

Varsity football plays at Taft stadium tonight in Oklahoma City.  JV plays on Monday against Plainview here.  That game time has been moved to 6:00 pm.  Come out and support the teams!  Kids are doing great!!  See you at the fields.

Today is an exciting day to be a Tiger!!  We open district play in 5A - 2 tonight against Lawton Macarthur Highlanders.  We have had a tough schedule and we feel it has prepared us for district play.  The weather is beautiful today.  Would like to encourage all to come out and support the Tigers tonight!!

Cross Country has made some significant improvements in their times over the past month.  We are attending the Madill meet tomorrow morning.  We look forward to the continued improvement and being our best in October!

Middle School softball ended their season on Tuesday and visited a nursing home on Wednesday.  Would like to thank the coaches and girls for their perserverance and efforts this season.  The football team has two games next week.  We play  Durant at home on Tuesday which is a schedule change from Monday and at Plainview on Thursday.  These teams are working hard and improving each week.

The Tigers are looking forward to our home opening football game of the 2011 season.  McAlister is coming to town with a 2 - 0 record and ranked in the top 5 in the state.  We are gearing up and looking forward to the challenge.  We want to encourage everyone to come out and support the Tigers this week.  The kids enjoy playing in front of a great crowd.  Our team played exceptionally hard and played as one at Carl Albert last week.  I can assure you the same effort this week.  Our kids will exemplify Pride, Poise, Discipline, and Class.

Our JV team is playing against Sulphur's varsity on Thursday night in Sulphur.  Our middle school has picked up a game against Lawton on Thursday.  This will be a home game.  We are excited about what is going on with our middle school athletics and football in particular. 

High School softball is playing in a tournament in Durant this weekend.  Middle school softball is winding down.  We will be through next Tuesday, but are playing in the Plainview tournament this weekend and have 2 games to end the season next week.

We had a nice victory over Ada last Friday night.  More important than the win was the way we won.  I was so proud of our kids for displaying Pride, Poise, Discipline, and Class.  We played together as a team.  Great way to start the year!  Likewise, the band was tremendous.  We had a good showing of student body support that is appreciated.  And, the pom and cheer finally had the opportunity to show off all of their hard work over the past month.

This week, our middle school softball won two games on Thursday.The high school softball team is in a tournament at Plainview playing 3 games today.  Cross Country ran at Ada yesterday.  Our athletes are working hard and getting better each week. 

Our middle school football team played Ada last night in front of a good crowd.  The 7th grade lost 14-12.  Our 8th grade won 22-6.  Very impressed with the teams.  The coaches have done a tremendous job.  We have over 80 kids playing middle school football.  We are headed in the right direction.  Next week, the middle school has picked up a game with a Lawton Middle School.  We will play on Thursday here.

Tonight, our varsity football travels to Carl Albert.  We have had a good week of practice and are looking forward to the challenge of tonight's contest.

We have alot of exciting things going on in athletics!  First, we hosted a conference cross country meet last Saturday.  We had lots of participants for both middle school and high school.  I want to thank the drum line for coming out to the event.  Everyone had a good time.  Coach Wright and Coach Mcatten did a great job running this event off!

Last Thursday, we hosted the annual super scrimmage.  The booster club worked long hours and worked extremely hard to provide a quality event to the fans of each school that participated.  Our football team improved last week in practice.  For the second week in a row, our defense was not scored on.  During our scrimmage with Sulpher we scored 2 touchdowns.

We are gearing up for our first game against ADA.  We will be ready.  Come to Ada on Friday night and support the team.

School starts tomorrow.  Our athletes are going to be leaders in the school and set the tone for the school year.  We are excited about alot of the changes that are taking place and look forward to excelling on the field as well as in the classroom.

Our football team scrimmaged Noble last Friday.  We had several positive things come from the scrimmage and saw lots of things we need to work on.  We are excited about this Thursday's Super Scrimmage here at Noble Stadium.  Would like to invite all to come out and enjoy Southern Oklahoma High School Football.

We are excited about what is going on at the middle school!  We had 72 kids at practice on Thursday.  We hope those numbers continue to improve.  Really enjoyed the practices I was able to make.  Kids are great and coaches are doing a good job!  Anxious to see those kids get in pads and then play ball.  We only have 6 games for them this year as the schedule has been set for some time now.  I do have the middle school schedule set for next year and we are at 8 games.  We will hope to have this many from here on out!

Softball plays at home vs. Duncan on Tuesday and then goes to Kingston on Wednesday.  Would like to encourage everyone to come out and support the girls.

Also, on Saturday morning we are hosting a conference Cross Country Meet here at the high school starting at 8:00 am..  Come out and support these runners.  They have been working hard since June.  I am anxious to see our improvement this week!

We had a great week of football practice.  The kids are enthusiastic and improving each day.  We had a lot of fun last week and came out of it relatively healthy.  We ended the week with picture day on Saturday.  W concluded our two a days last week.  We will be practicing once a day this week from 7:00 - 9:30 am.  Our first scrimmage is at Noble on Friday.  Tenatively, the jv will scrimmage at 6:00 and varsity close to or a little before 7:00.

Softball has a busy week with games for both high school and middle school on Tuesday.  Then the varsity will play at homeThursday against Chickasha starting at 5:30.  This weekend, we play in the Tishomingo Tournament.  The team will be busy!!

Cross Country ran here in Ardmore on Saturday and has another meet at Madill this coming Saturday.

Middle school practices start this evening for football.  Look forward to seeing everyone there.

August is here!  That means the band is practicing, cross country has started and football is right around the corner!  Very proud of our summer program.  We had 50 boys culminate the summer with 40 40 yard sprints on Thursday.  The senior class did a great job of leading and the effort was tremendous.

We will start football practice on Tuesday at 7:00 am.  Kids will need to be here by 6:30.  We are paying particular attention to the heat.  We will do our part.  But, the kids need to start hydrating this weekend and drink lots of water before and after practices.  They will need to continue to drink water throughout the day.  Kids will not be able to practice if they do not have a physical.

We are excited about getting started!!

Softball has their first games today in a pre season tournament.  Both middle school and high school teams have been working hard and have shown improvement.

It is a distinct privilege and honor to be a part of the Ardmore Tigers athletic programs.  We are excited about moving to such a terrific town.  It has been a fast and furious month, but we are settling in.  I have had the most fun coaching our kids.  The work ethic is terrific and they seem hungry for the fall to get here!

Both the middle school and high school softball teams are showing signs of improvement each week.  Cross Country has been running for close to a month now.  We had an all coaches meeting today.  All signs are pointing to the start of the 2011 - 2012 school year!

On Tuesday night, we will have a football parent's meeting in the high school cafeteria at 6:00 pm.  Practice will start a week later on the 9th.  Schedules and calendars have been mailed, but there will be changes made to those that will be addressed in the meeting.  There will be a middle school athletic parent meeting on August 11th and their practices will start in the evening of August 15th.

Remember, all athletes must have physicals done before they can participate in organized practices.  We would like to have these by August 1st.
